TestGorilla’s assessments evaluate your real-world skills, focusing on role-specific competencies, cognitive abilities, behavioral preferences, and/or personality traits.
You won’t find a TestGorilla questions and answers PDF anywhere, as we don’t share questions or answers publicly. This is to keep the process fair and help you put your best foot forward.
To prepare for a TestGorilla assessment, ensure you know the format, practice job-specific tasks, and create a test-ready environment for yourself.

TestGorilla champions making hiring fair, accurate, and insightful – for both candidates like you and employers. Our talent assessments are carefully crafted to help hiring managers, recruiters, and more evaluate your skills while giving you an opportunity to shine.
Let’s explore how we create our tests.
Our assessments are built on solid scientific principles to keep them reliable and meaningful. Here’s how we do it:
Expert creation and validation: TestGorilla’s intellectual property development specialists collaborate with subject matter experts to create our tests. These folks are experts in their field but also well-versed in test development, so they can ensure each test accurately measures the intended skills. Every test also undergoes multiple reviews and edits to meet our high standards.
Accuracy and predictive validity: We ensure all TestGorilla questions align with the US Department of Labor’s O*NET Online skills database and the European Commission’s European Skills, Competences, Qualifications, and Occupations (ESCO) database. This ensures questions genuinely evaluate the skills we want them to. Plus, we perform independent validation studies on every TestGorilla test and gather feedback from real customers to confirm that our assessments effectively predict job performance.
Continuous improvement: TestGorilla’s Science and Assessment Innovation team analyzes test data from completed assessments to refine questions and ensure tests stay reliable, valid, and relevant.
Compliance: TestGorilla tests align with recognized industry best practices and legal standards, such as the Uniform Guidelines on Employee Selection Procedures (UGESP) and the Standards of Educational and Psychological Testing.
You might be disappointed that we don’t publicly share TestGorilla sample questions or TestGorilla assessment answers. But it’s for good reason:
To preserve test integrity: Sharing answers would undermine the purpose of assessing genuine skills.
To ensure fairness: Every candidate deserves an equal opportunity to showcase their abilities without external advantages, like knowing the questions and answers ahead of time.
To keep the focus on real-world skills: Talent assessments are all about understanding what you can do and what kind of employee you are, not what you can memorize.
To put this in context: Imagine you’re applying for a software developer role, and another candidate also applying for this role has memorized answers posted online. You’ve genuinely understood specific coding concepts without memorizing them. By safeguarding test content, TestGorilla ensures your real skills shine through.
With this said, we do include practice preview questions in our test library to help you get an idea of the kinds of questions you might be asked. Plus, we’ll show you how to prepare for an assessment in the section below!
TestGorilla assessments are designed to help employers find the best candidates, so preparing well can give you the confidence to shine. Here are our top tips:
Each TestGorilla assessment is unique, so familiarize yourself with the types of questions you might encounter – e.g., multiple-choice questions, coding challenges, or video responses. Knowing what to expect can make a big difference on assessment day.
It’s also a good idea to visit TestGorilla’s test library, check out the practice preview questions, and explore role-specific tests to understand what’s ahead.
Research the skills relevant to the role you’re applying for and focus on honing them. You can do this by:
Using the job description to pinpoint the most essential skills.
Diving into online tutorials or guides to improve your expertise with specific tools and techniques. For example, if the role involves project management, practice using tools like Trello or Asana. For marketing roles, review concepts like data analysis or campaign strategy.
Creating small, realistic projects to practice applying your skills in a hands-on way. For instance, if you’re hoping to land a graphic design role, create a branding project for a fictional company, including a logo, social media templates, and a mock website layout.
Problem-solving is often a core component of assessments, so it’s worth spending time sharpening this skill. Here are some fun ways to practice:
Try puzzles, brain teasers, or apps that focus on logic and critical thinking.
Work through case studies or role-specific scenarios to simulate real-world challenges.
Engage with online forums or groups where you can exchange ideas and sharpen your reasoning skills.
Knowing how to pace yourself can be the difference between completing an assessment early and not quite making it to the end before the deadline. Two great ways to do this are to complete self-tests on TestGorilla or time yourself answering practice questions.
When you receive your assessment invitation, read it carefully. It will include all the essential details, such as the test type, deadline, and any additional instructions from your prospective employer.
A distraction-free environment can help you feel calm and relaxed while taking your TestGorilla assessment. Find a quiet, well-lit space where you won’t be interrupted and ensure you have:
A mobile device (e.g., a smartphone or tablet), a desktop, or a laptop with an up-to-date browser (Google Chrome is recommended)
A stable internet connection
A webcam and microphone
A comfortable chair
We also recommend running a quick internet speed check and ensuring your device’s software is updated.
As a candidate, here’s what to expect from a talent assessment with TestGorilla:
When a potential employer invites you to take an assessment, TestGorilla will email you an invitation link. Click it, and it’ll take you directly to the test platform – no need to create an account. All you need to do is enter your first and last name, accept TestGorilla’s privacy policy, and select whether you’d like to receive emails from us.
If you haven’t started your assessment after 48 hours, you’ll receive an email reminding you to complete it.
You can complete the assessment on any internet-connected device, including smartphones and tablets. You can also take it at any time, as long as it’s before the potential employer’s deadline.
With some assessments, you can schedule a date and time to complete it before the employer’s deadline.
Before your assessment, you’ll read a welcome message and some information about your assessment, including the number of tests it contains and whether there are any custom questions (which employers are allowed to add).
You’ll also sign TestGorilla’s Candidate Honesty Policy.
Then, if your potential employer has opted to offer these, you can make accommodation requests.
Finally, you’ll set up your camera and microphone.
Some assessments include qualifying questions that candidates complete before the official tests. Employers can add a maximum of five qualifying questions, which are always multiple-choice or true/false.
Qualifying questions determine whether you meet the criteria for the job you’ve applied for. If you don’t, the assessment will end (and you’ll save time and disappointment!).
At the start of each test, you’ll have four practice questions to help you warm up. These don’t count toward your final assessment results.
TestGorilla assessments are meant to match the job you’re applying for, and employers can combine up to five individual tests to make a single assessment. For example, you could tackle a communication test, a marketing skills test, and a personality test if you’re a marketer. Or, for a developer role, you might complete several coding skills tests and a problem-solving test.
Questions can be in multiple-choice, true/false, and essay format. You might also face coding challenges, questions requiring video-recorded responses, or questions where you must upload files.
Tests range from 10 to 30 minutes each, and you may have an opportunity to take a break after each test in your assessment. You can take breaks only if prompted, so don’t abandon your assessment at random! If you take a break, you’ll receive a reminder email (with the subject line “Important: your assessment is waiting”) after 48 hours of inactivity.
You’ll have one attempt to complete your assessment.
Some tests adjust their level of challenge based on how you’re performing.
You won’t need anything other than your device and an internet connection, but TestGorilla gives you an on-screen scratchpad for jotting down notes or solving problems.
For the smoothest test-taking experience, we recommend using Google Chrome on your device.
We use anti-cheating measures like IP tracking, disabling copy-paste, taking snapshots using the candidate’s device camera (optional, with their permissions, and tracking whether candidates exit full-screen mode. We do this to ensure the process is fair for everyone. Just focus on doing your best!
Once you complete your assessment, your answers are submitted and scored automatically. Your potential employer receives a detailed report of your results. Meanwhile, you’ll be taken to the TestGorilla Profile page, where you can create an account and view your results.
Now, let’s clear up some common misconceptions and worries about talent assessments.
Fact: TestGorilla’s process is designed to ensure fairness. By focusing on real-world skills and attributes, assessments eliminate bias and give every candidate an equal opportunity to shine.
Fact: They also benefit candidates! Assessments offer valuable insights into your strengths and areas for growth. Because skills-based hiring focuses on demonstrable abilities rather than traditional credentials like degrees or job titles, you have more flexibility to showcase your talents in ways beyond your resumè.
Fact: They enhance the human element! Talent assessment results give employers a clear picture of job-specific skills and traits, helping them make better-informed hiring decisions.
There’s no “pass” or “fail” in a TestGorilla assessment. It’s about showcasing your abilities and how they align with the role. If your results indicate areas for improvement, consider it an opportunity to learn and refine your skills for future applications.
Everyone has off days, but remember, an assessment is just one part of the hiring process. Employers often use them alongside interviews, reference checks, and other factors. Plus, as we mentioned, TestGorilla assessments help identify strengths you might not have realized you had – giving you valuable insights for growth.
Not at all! TestGorilla assessments are designed to be user-friendly and accessible. Before starting, you’ll have a chance to familiarize yourself with the platform and its features. Additionally, detailed instructions and practice opportunities are provided to help you feel comfortable.
Not knowing an answer doesn’t mean you’re not a good fit for the role. TestGorilla assessments are meant to evaluate a broad range of skills, and no one is expected to ace every question. Focus on showcasing your strengths and demonstrating how you approach problem-solving.
Yes, but you won’t be able to go back and answer them later. Skipped questions are marked as incorrect answers.
No. Once you answer a TestGorilla question, you can’t go back to review your answers.
Remember, assessments are just one piece of the puzzle. Employers use them to gather objective data, but they also consider your personality, experience, and interview performance. Think of the assessment as a chance to highlight skills your resumé alone might not showcase.
Preparation is key! Follow the tips outlined in this guide: Set up a distraction-free environment, understand the test format, and practice relevant skills beforehand. Confidence comes from being well-prepared.
Talent assessments are designed to empower you to demonstrate your abilities and stand out in the hiring process. By focusing on your skills, not just your resumé, TestGorilla’s assessments provide a fair, unbiased opportunity to prove your worth.
Whether you’re new to assessments, skeptical about their fairness, or entering the workforce for the first time, you can ace tests by creating the right environment, carefully reading instructions, and managing your time well.
Best of luck, and remember that your skills are your greatest asset!
