Don’t leave hiring the best talent to chance

Share

Pre-employment testing can help you predict the performance potential of candidates, identify the best talent, and make the right hiring decisions faster

That’s why choosing the right screening software is key for the success of your business.

This guide will compare TestGorilla and iMocha to determine which software is the best option for you.

How does TestGorilla work?

TestGorilla replaces traditional resume screening with skills-based assessments. This helps employers predict which candidates will thrive in their organization.

TestGorilla also helps remove unconscious bias by rating candidates based on their actual skills rather than on their self-assessment of their skills. We offer a library of tests and tools to help you create the best overall assessment for a given role.

Our platform helps you create a better candidate experience: You can use your company’s branding, and our assessments are easy for candidates to access and complete. Afterward, you receive test scores and feedback to gain an unbiased look at your candidates’ potential.

TestGorilla also gives you the option to request video responses and perform personality assessments. Candidates can use any device to access their assessments and upload documents.

TestGorilla vs. iMocha: Functionalities for hiring developers

Assessing coding skills and other technical abilities is crucial to hiring the right developer for your organization. Some applicants might oversell their skills, while other top applicants might fail to accurately describe their full technical talent.

Using a pre-employment assessment enables you to quantify technical skills fairly and quickly.

Hiring developers with TestGorilla

TestGorilla offers a suite of technical skills tests, including coding challenges, for popular programming languages and frameworks. A language-agnostic coding test enables candidates to choose from 20 different programming languages to solve challenges in whichever language they’re most familiar with. You can also use custom coding challenges to tailor an assessment to your organization’s needs.

TestGorilla’s code playback function gives evaluators added insight by showing the candidate’s work frame by frame through the challenge. Automated scoring saves time and provides accurate feedback.

Hiring developers with iMocha

iMocha also provides a large variety of assessments for hiring developers.

Coding assessments include a code playback feature so you can see a candidate’s process.

Additionally, iMocha provides the option to tailor custom assessments to unique scenarios.

TestGorilla vs. iMocha: Video interviews

Video interviews can speed up the assessment process and keep costs down. If you shortlist a large number of candidates for an interview, then the time and costs can really add up – and one of the best ways to make the hiring process more efficient is to use video interviews.

Video interviews can be a useful one-way assessment, enabling candidates to record their responses to preset or custom questions and recruiters to quickly evaluate answers and make the recruitment process more efficient.

TestGorilla’s video interviews

TestGorilla lets you set up one-way video interviews that can replace screening calls and automatically grade and rank your candidates. These video interviews help recruiters assess candidates faster and avoid bias by keeping questions consistent.

TestGorilla sets time limits for candidate responses and automatically records the number of attempts.

iMocha’s video interviews

iMocha provides automated one-way video interviews to assess skills with preset questions. There is no limit to the number of attempts a candidate can make to complete their video.

A central dashboard displays the status of video interviews. Candidates complete the assessments on their own schedule within time limits.

TestGorilla vs. iMocha: Candidate experience and company branding

Assessments are only as strong as the candidate’s experience. Branding the assessments to your company helps present a professional and polished appearance to each applicant.

Keep in mind that some candidates may be less tech-savvy than others and might need extra assistance. In addition, candidates on the go need to be able to complete their assessments on their mobile devices.

All candidates appreciate easy access that doesn’t require creating an account to take tests.

The candidate experience with TestGorilla

TestGorilla’s assessments are built using EEOC standards for removing unconscious bias from the hiring process.

All candidates get an equal opportunity to demonstrate their skills. Plus, our platform makes it easy for candidates to understand what’s expected of them.

They are not required to set up an account with TestGorilla to get access to the tests or receive help if they hit any technical snags. Candidates who take assessments in English do have the option to create a TestGorilla account to see their assessment results.

To create a more memorable experience for candidates, you can add your own branding to tests, including your company’s logo and colors. You can also introduce your assessments with a branded video.

TestGorilla also enables you to create assessments in 12 languages, making it easy to create a personalized, accessible hiring experience for candidates across the globe.

The candidate experience with iMocha

iMocha provides the option to use company branding and customized messaging in assessments. However, users can’t add introduction videos to these assessments.

With iMocha, a candidate doesn’t need to create an account before they can access their assessment.

If a candidate has trouble with an assessment, they can get support from iMocha by email only.

TestGorilla vs. iMocha: Enterprise and startup friendliness

Whether you are hiring for a large enterprise or building a startup, assessment tools can help streamline the recruitment process.

To be more effective, assessment tools should integrate well with existing ATS software, keep track of candidates throughout the process, and store candidate data in compliance with laws like the GDPR.

TestGorilla’s enterprise and startup friendliness

TestGorilla has improved the time-to-hire and hiring effectiveness for businesses such as Revolut, a company that went from a startup to a fully-fledged European bank.

Businesses of all sizes can speed up their hiring processes with our platform, as we remove manual work and integrate with a number of ATS systems. We also offer an API for custom integrations.

In addition, GDPR compliance ensures all candidate data is managed appropriately.

What’s more, TestGorilla supports startups with a free forever plan and scalable paid plans. Enterprises can benefit from TestGorilla’s support for localized websites in 12 different languages, which makes it easier for large companies to hire around the world.

On top of that, TestGorilla enables your hiring team to collaborate while reviewing candidates. You can allow members of your hiring team to review candidates’ test results and comment on candidate reports.

Finally, with bulk actions, you can send invitations, reminders, rejections, and other communications to multiple candidates simultaneously.

iMocha’s enterprise and startup friendliness

iMocha integrates with some ATS systems and has an API. The platform is GDPR compliant and supports multiple languages to facilitate hiring internationally.

iMocha offers limited collaboration for your hiring team. It offers basic tools for tracking candidates’ progress in your hiring pipeline and doesn’t yet enable members of your hiring team to comment on candidate reports.

TestGorilla vs. iMocha: Quality control

Assessments require consistent review and quality control to deliver what your business needs.

To achieve this, platforms might opt to hire experts to vet all questions before they make them available to candidates. Or they might also ask companies and test-takers for their feedback and use it to continuously improve assessments.

TestGorilla’s quality-control processes

TestGorilla has a dedicated psychometrics team to ensure assessments provide highly accurate and unbiased screening.

Science-backed test theory frames the design of all assessments. Subject-matter experts develop and review all tests, which guarantees their validity and accuracy.

TestGorilla also actively seeks out feedback from both our customers and test-takers. This enables us to continuously improve our product and make sure it works well for everyone.

iMocha’s quality-control processes

iMocha conducts its own reviews with experts prior to publishing its tests. They have a customer feedback email to collect information on errors customers may find with the assessments.

However, iMocha doesn’t solicit test-taker feedback, which can lead to a less desirable experience for candidates.

TestGorilla vs. iMocha: Anti-cheating measures

SHRM reported that nearly 25% of job candidates admitted exaggerating their skills on their resumes.

Assessments can paint a clear picture of a candidate’s actual skills, but if it’s easy for candidates to cheat, then assessments provide no value.

A high-quality assessment tool should include comprehensive anti-cheating measures to preserve the integrity of results. These measures include randomizing questions, enforcing time limits, and ensuring the person who completes the assessment is the actual candidate.

TestGorilla’s anti-cheating measures

TestGorilla’s precautions make it extremely difficult for candidates to share test questions and answers online.

The copy-and-paste function is disabled, and questions are rotated and retired after a set number of uses. You can also set a time limit for each test.

TestGorilla monitors applicants’ activity during assessments and alerts you if candidates switch to another screen, which could indicate they’re researching answers.

TestGorilla also records a candidate’s location and prevents multiple test attempts from the same IP address.

iMocha’s anti-cheating measures

iMocha also uses a variety of anti-cheating measures. The system captures images of the candidate while they take the test and uses AI to flag suspicious activity (i.e., if these images don’t match). A window lock prevents candidates from moving out of the test.

In addition, the platform monitors candidates’ testing location and blocks multiple test entries from the same IP address.

TestGorilla vs. iMocha: Reporting and analytics

Conducting pre-employment assessments provides your business with lots of useful data on your talent pool.

Effective reporting can turn that data into talent analytics that drive better and faster hiring decisions.

Analyzing talent data can also contribute to reducing unconscious bias in your hiring process and help you better forecast future talent needs.

If you want to capitalize on the benefits of data analysis, adopt an assessment tool that makes reporting straightforward and easy.

TestGorilla’s reporting and analytics features

TestGorilla creates benchmarked reports that compare individual candidates in different groups. Reports are available in PDF, XLSX, and CSV formats and can be shared with your entire hiring team.

Each report displays an applicant’s overall assessment score and their score on each component test. Each test is broken down into skill areas, and results show you how well they did in those areas.

You can customize the weight of each test to calculate overall scores that better reflect the most important skills for a role.

We also provide a comprehensive overview of all current and past candidates. This data can help you better understand the skill profile of the applicants your job posting attracts, as well as identify any skills that are consistently missing.

TestGorilla vs. iMocha: Ease of use

Effective assessment tools must be easy to use for the recruiter as well as for job candidates.

Applicants should be able to access assessments without issue and easily understand what is expected of them.

Once candidates have completed an assessment, test results make it easy for recruiters to identify top talent.

TestGorilla’s ease of use

TestGorilla’s product has been widely praised for its ease of use and fast implementation. Digital Care, a business process outsourcing company, chose TestGorilla for its ease of use and single-score ranking. Using our platform helped them save money on talent acquisition and make better hires for the company.

The comprehensive test library makes it simple to set up candidates for high-quality and fair assessments. You can preview tests and use the test library’s search function to find recommended tests for specific skills or roles.

In addition, candidates benefit from TestGorilla’s notifications, which keep them updated on their progress in the hiring process. Candidates also have the option to view their assessment results with a TestGorilla account.

iMocha’s ease of use

iMocha is praised for having responsive customer support that helps businesses when they struggle to solve issues in the system. It’s also continuously improving its offerings to meet customer needs.

TestGorilla vs Imocha - iMocha talent acquisition solution

The final verdict: TestGorilla vs. iMocha

TestGorilla and iMocha differ in their approaches to vetting and reviewing tests.

Both TestGorilla and iMocha work with subject-matter experts to vet tests before adding them to the test library. However, TestGorilla goes further by continuing to evaluate questions based on customer and candidate feedback.

By comparison, despite iMocha offering a large test library, it relies only on optional customer feedback to identify problems with questions. This makes TestGorilla’s assessments more reliable and of higher quality.

Streamline your hiring process with pre-employment testing

Pre-employment testing enables you to assess candidate skills quickly and objectively. Relying on resumes that exaggerate or fail to highlight applicants’ most relevant skills can lead to costly mis-hires. Testing can help you figure out whether a candidate has the right skills for the job in a fair and objective manner.

Using pre-employment tests helps ensure you can easily identify the best candidates and save time by moving forward with those candidates.

TestGorilla is committed to helping organizations make better hiring decisions faster and without bias. Learn more about how we can help you optimize recruitment: Sign up for a free 30-minute live demo with a member of our team today.
