Assess candidates’ typing speed with our comprehensive Typing Speed (Capitalization and Punctuation) test. Designed to evaluate the skills and aptitude of job applicants for office roles, this test accurately measures the number of words per minute (WPM) they can type.
Typing accurate and meaningful text quickly
Using correct English capitalization and punctuation
Any role that requires fast, accurate typing with correct capitalization and punctuation, including but not limited to data entry clerks, office administrators, customer service advisors, transcribers, entry-level marketing professionals, junior salespeople, copywriters, editors, and junior programmers.
Our Typing Speed (Capitalization and Punctuation) test assesses your candidates' ability to type efficiently and with technical accuracy.
Hiring with this test for typing speed on QWERTY keyboards helps you find people who can:
Increase workplace efficiency
Communicate with colleagues and clients across digital channels
Produce accurate marketing materials reflective of your brand
Write reports and take minutes under pressure
Work on administrative tasks at speed without compromising quality
Our Online Typing test provides candidates with randomly selected paragraphs that are presented in a challenging and engaging way, representative of day-to-day tasks. These feature lowercase letters, capital letters, spaces, and punctuation. Test takers are timed and have two minutes to complete the test.
You can see their average typing speed in words per minute rather than in the number of characters per minute (CPM). You also gain access to an accuracy score out of 100% that ensures that candidates aren’t just touch typing without regard for quality.
All applicants’ results are available through our candidate organizer, which helps you rank test takers based on their WPM scores and accuracy.

TestGorilla’s team of assessment experts and engineers has created a series of Typing Speed tests that were researched, defined, and developed within our team. As with all the tests in our test library, the Typing Speed tests underwent assessment and review to ensure the tests meet the highest levels of accuracy before being published.
These tests will continue to be evaluated for constant improvement in line with our standardized revision process for all tests in our Test Library.
TestGorilla’s tests are created by subject matter experts. We assess potential subject-matter experts based on their knowledge, ability, and reputation. Before being published, each test is peer-reviewed by another expert, then calibrated using hundreds of test takers with relevant experience in the subject. Our feedback mechanisms and unique algorithms allow our subject-matter experts to constantly improve their tests.

Any tool can have functions—bells and whistles. Not every tool comes armed with staff passionate about making the user experience positive.
The TestGorilla team only offers useful insights to user challenges, they engage in conversation.
For instance, I recently asked a question about a Python test I intended to implement. Instead of receiving “oh, that test would work perfectly for your solution,” or, “at this time we’re thinking about implementing a solution that may or may not…” I received a direct and straightforward answer with additional thoughts to help shape the solution.
I hope that TestGorilla realizes the value proposition in their work is not only the platform but the type of support that’s provided.
For a bit of context—I am a diversity recruiter trying to create a platform that removes bias from the hiring process and encourages the discovery of new and unseen talent.

Time Management test: Hire people who work efficiently and accurately – and not just when typing. People who pass this test manage their workloads with zero need for hand-holding and micromanagement.
Communication test: Find recruits who listen carefully and take the time to understand others’ needs and project requirements. Successful applicants express themselves clearly and adapt to different audiences and situations with ease.
Microsoft 365 (Bundle) test: Recruit talented assistants who can use Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, SharePoint, and Forms to a high standard. Knowledge of this common software package is an asset when producing highly accurate work at speed.
Administrative Assistant test: Assess attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and general organization in an office setting. This test helps you recruit talented administrative assistants and clerks who increase your company’s day-to-day efficiency.
